Horatio Hornblower

One of the most popular nautical literature series of all times was written by C.S. Forrester, and involved the Royal Navy of Great Britan during the Napoleonic era of the late 1700s and early 1800s. Today’s FamSite looks at a site that explores the legacy of Horatio Hornblower.

The site is one that features a wide variety of articles and links about the legendary Hornblower. From the first book in 1937 up to the recent mini-series on the A&E Cable Television network, it is all here. You can read about how Mr. Forrester got the idea for the books on a ocean voyage, learn about the history surrounding the books (there are 11 in all), and experience the feeling of being at sea. There are excellent links to other sites, as well as coverage of the actors that have appeared in the mini-series.

This is a great site not only for fans of the Hornblower saga, but for nautical history buffs as well. Enjoy your stop here today, and be sure to share it with a friend.
